The second test

The second test was really hard. It was our first combat test and I've never fought before. Well, I've fought with my younger brother and younger sister, but never like this. We were hitting each other for real. It was so scary. Kyu and I fought against Sain and Silvaii.

I didn't think we'd do so well. Silvaii's always reading, so she knows a lot and Sain's kind of scary, but he's a really nice guy actually. It was hard at first, 'cause we didn't know where they were, but then I remember this spell I learned that lets me see magic. So I saws where they were too. We snuck around and surprised Silvaii. Kyu is scary when she fights. We beat Silvaii with one hit each. I did a little damage and the Kyu smashed up the wall next to Silvaii.

Then Sain tried sneaking up on me and Kyu charged at him. We got lucky, 'cause Sain missed with his great big spikey thing. I think it's called a morning star. Then I ran up and threw a tanglefoot bag. I need to get more, they're really good. Sain couldn't move and Kyu and I felt sorry for him when he was really hurt, so I asked him to surrender. He agreed and we won.

I feel really bad about winning though. Sain and Silvaii are smart and nice. We really hurt them too. It's good that you can't die here. I would not do this if I could possibly kill someone.

Kyunya and I passed! We actually made it through the first test! I'm sooo happy! We had a really good day after they told us too. Kyunya and Al and Addy and me we around two and saw all kinds of things. I saw this really neat store full of stuff that adventurers were selling. This big guy was just pulling handfuls of gems out of his bag. I found an olive seller. Olives are really tasty and fun. I'll have to get some again, just so I can spit out the pits again. Maybe I could grow an olive tree from one.

After we walked around a lot, we meet up with Hex and Desi. Desi bought me dinner and it was really good! There was pork chops and these really tasty potatoes. I always though potatoes were boring, but these were sooo good.

When I went back and was reading in the courtyard, something wierd happened. I heard someone crying and a knife being sharpened. I got really scared and ran away. Hex looked, but I was imagining it. At least I hope I was.

The first test

Boy is the schooling here hard. I'm even tired and I'm used to working in the fields. In the morning, we have classes where the teachers make our brains hurt by giving us too much to learn. Then we have lunch. The food is pretty good (Desi doesn't agree though) and they give us lots. The afternoon is physical training. Master Ryst makes us work hard, but he's really nice. I don't like Master Hein though. He's always spying on us.

We just got through our first test today. We thought it was going to be fighting exam, but it was a skills test. The team with the lowest score goes home and I really hope that Kyunya and I have a high enough score. I don't want to go home yet. I don't know what I'd do. I think I did okay on the magic damage section and the fighting part went pretty well. Kyunya was amazing on the melee part but didn't do very well on magic theory. Hex and Cyma were really good. Togaririm & Tipheret are scary.

I hope I did well, I hope I did well, I hope I did well. I won't know until tomorrow.

Rumors

What I heard was that Kaleh found some like... organs laying in one of the alleys near the edge of campus. She didn't say much detail but she looked pretty shook up about it, and thats pretty weird because she's always so calm and cold.

That's really, really gross. I think I heard about her acting ill after that happened too. I also heard from Desi that there's some pretty weird baseline magic around campus. It makes me wonder why they'd have picked this location if its in the same situation as the old campus.

I've noticed some rather strange happenings too. I always hear chains rattling on our floor at night, after lights out. I saw some really strange runes on the rear wall of the schoolbuilding, but the masters wouldn't say anything about it. I've even noticed presences lurking around that are always just out of reach. Perhaps the Empire is taking more of an interest in how we do than we realize.

Acceptance

Acceptance:
Hi, umm, I'm Belphona. I sort of new at this journaling thing, so please forgive me if I make mistakes. I've written letters before though.

Well today I found out that I made it into Cohort Alpha. Yay! I'm the baby of the group though and I'm a little afraid that they will all look down on me for it. Some of them are close to my age (but even the teenagers feel really old to me.) Manthar's so old he could be my uncle and some of the others are older than the world it seems.

They announced our partners too. I'm partnered with Kyunya, which is great 'cause she's really friendly. She's a little weird though, but I think we'll be fine together. All of the other groupings are boy-girl. I don't get why everyone is fussing about it so much though.

Desiris and Hex have the room across from me and Kyunya. She was complaining the size of the room and stuff. I don't see a problem with it. My bedroom is bigger than our barn back home and the decorations in here are better that what the locale lord has. We even have our own indoor bathroom just for the two of us! I think Desiris would laugh at me if I tell her this. The dorm even has its own kitchen and library that we can use. This is going to be so much fun. I just hope Kyunya and I can stay here for a while!

Well, I'm off to bed now. I'm really sleepy.
